Thiel supplied $15 million each to outside vehicles supporting JD Vance and Blake Masters after both had professional relationships inside his orbit. Vance later became vice president; Masters lost. The record shows concentrated sponsorship with real reach—and real limits.

Ideas
“Freedom and democracy” were the conflict he named.
Thiel's 2009 essay stated that he no longer believed freedom and democracy compatible, then proposed technological routes beyond politics. The full context rejects a simple disenfranchisement claim. His later use of elections and transition power makes the tension more—not less—important.

Access before patronage
Epstein opened Russian-facing doors.
DOJ-released correspondence documents Epstein's 2015 introduction of Thiel to Sergey Belyakov, a subsequent meeting and discussed Moscow invitation, followed by other contact offers and the 2016 Churkin lunch. That is repeat access brokerage—not intelligence activity or a bridge to Vance.

Influence is visible before control is proved.
Employment, money, access, and repeated intellectual relationships demonstrate influence opportunity. Control requires a further chain: an instruction, recipient acknowledgement, and identifiable official act. We will show that chain when it exists and name its absence when it does not.
