What Yarvin actually proposed

Yarvin wrote this in 2007. He called it “formalist” and “neocameralist” thinking. He rejected the idea that government is a public trust run by the people. He pictured states run like companies. They would have owners, shareholders, a board, and a chief executive.1 Another essay said a military coup is not always wrong if democracy is the problem. It also talked about shutting down or selling off public media and schools.3

In 2008, Yarvin defined a “hard reset.” He called it the “unconditional replacement of all government employees.” He tied it to ending democracy and total one-man rule.8 In 2022 he wrote “Butterfly Revolution.” He imagined a new regime taking power under a CEO. That CEO would run the government with no check from Congress or courts.4 That essay came after Vance's 2021 interview. So it can show they sound alike later. It cannot explain what Vance said in 2021.

These are Yarvin's own written ideas. They are not secret orders. Writing to provoke, or writing “what if,” is not the same as giving commands. Still, plainly rejecting shared democratic power matters, even as theory.

What Vance said in the same discussion

This was the September 20, 2021 episode of Jack Murphy Live. Vance named Yarvin as someone who had written about “some of these things.” Then Vance said Trump should “fire every single mid-level bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state” and “replace them with our people.” He expected courts to block it. He said Trump should use a line linked to Andrew Jackson: “The Chief Justice has made his ruling; now let him enforce it.”2

Vance later added some limits. He said to push legal limits only “as far as the Supreme Court will let you.” He focused on mid to high level civil servants. He said you need not fire everyone at every change of president.2 That makes it harder to say he backed unlimited power. It does not erase his earlier call to fire all civil servants. It does not erase the “our people” language. And it does not erase his dare to defy the courts.

Why this is an evidence chain

Where Thiel fits, and where he does not

Thiel wrote his own statement in 2009. He said he no longer believed freedom and democracy could go together. Thiel also had an investment tie to Yarvin's company, Urbit. That is a business link. Thiel then gave $15 million to the super PAC backing Vance.56

These links make a network worth studying. They do not prove Thiel paid for Yarvin's writing. They do not prove he told Vance what to say. And they do not prove he wrote a plan for executive power. Money to invest is not the same as ideas. Funding is not an order. Influence is not yet control.

Project 2025 is not “Yarvin's plan”

Heritage started its Mandate for Leadership program in 1981. That was decades before Yarvin's blog. Project 2025 comes from that older line of work. It has chapters on agencies, plans for staffing, and a wide coalition.7

Some of its ideas may end up where Yarvin wanted, like giving the president control over staff. Looking alike is not the same as coming from him. To trace it to Yarvin, you would need a citation, a drafting role, a message, or testimony. The honest picture is simpler. Several anti-democratic and power-concentrating currents sometimes reach the same place.

What we will not smuggle into this case

Musk backed Germany's AfD party. We can prove that on its own. It does not prove he carried out Yarvin's ideas. Cambridge Analytica belongs in its own data and campaign story. A data center is not always a spy system. Douglas Rushkoff's story about a shock collar was about unnamed rich people. We cannot pin it on Thiel or Musk. Vance wrote a blurb for the book Unhumans. That endorsement matters. But we will not say the book calls for killing liberals without the exact pages and context.

The strongest defense

Thinkers like to provoke. Politicians borrow a piece here and there. They do not adopt a whole system. Presidents do need lawful control over policy. Think tanks openly push their agendas. Sharing a dislike of bureaucracy does not prove one big plot.

That knocks down the idea of “one cabal, one blueprint.” It does not erase that Vance named Yarvin. It does not erase his own advice. The real danger is out in the open. Anti-democratic ideas can be published. They can spread through rich and political networks. They can be echoed in part. And they can be carried close to real power.
